Joe has Coaching experience on the staffs of youth football, basketball and baseball, high school girls and boy’s basketball, girl’s and boys track, and college men’s basketball programs. He also has experience as a Director of Youth Hockey Player Development.
As a coach Joe has run all aspects of a program, taught team concepts, skill development, and game planned. He said he loved the camaraderie with players and the team building. Joe said a goal of his was to “try to inspire the athletes to achieve more than they thought they were capable of.”
Joe recollects that one of the best coaching experiences he was a part of was for a girls high school basketball team in New Mexico that in order to qualify for the State playoffs had to win at the #2 team in the state’s home gym on a Friday night and then win at the #1 team in the state’s home gym the next night. The team won both hard fought games and the momentum from those two wins carried them to the State Championship game.
About coaching Joe has stated that: “winning games and building winning programs is no doubt exhilarating. More significant and lasting is the journey of how teams work and grow together, sacrifice for shared goals, and learn and then live the life values that a great athletic experience teaches – values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, responsibility and perseverance.”
